Shipping v1.0, and what it took
Behind the first stable release: the trade-offs, the cuts, and the relief.
If a demo is a love affair, shipping v1.0 is deciding to marry — you’re now responsible for how it looks long-term.
Features I had to cut
Every “do it next version” feature is a rational act of letting go. For v1.0 I kept just three things: write, search, subscribe.
Naming took longer than coding
The slogan “Ship your product faster” went through eleven revisions. Copy is the other half of a product’s face.
The sigh of relief
Build passes, deploy succeeds, the first real visitor arrives — and in that moment it feels worth it.
